FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

YOU’VE GOT QUESTIONS?

Good. We’ve got answers.

Do You Accept Insurance?

We do not accept insurance. Prior to our first appointment, you will be required to have a credit card on file. We will send you a link where you will be able to add your payment information. Payment in full will be processed at the time of your appointment.

We also use a service called Thrizer which is similar to Stripe. For clients who have insurance, you can add your insurance information, Thrizer will then let you know what your benefits will cover and will submit claims to your insurance company on your behalf. You will be reimbursed via check or direct deposit depending on the reimbursement allowed by your plan.

If you do not have insurance or choose not to use it, I will send you a link to sign up with Thrizer and you will add your credit card to their website just like you would Stripe.

To sign up for Thrizer, we will send you a link to sign up after we schedule our first appointment. You can also go to their website (http://www.thrizer.com) to learn more about their services.

What are your fees?

Counseling sessions are $200 for 50 minutes.

Phone calls greater than 15 minutes, written reports and extended sessions will be charged at a prorated hourly fee. Payment is always processed at the time of your appointment.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit/debit cards and cards linked to HSA/FSA accounts.

How does online therapy work?

When we start working together, we will give you access to our online portal. When sessions are scheduled, you will receive a link via text and/or email 24 hours in advance to sign in to meet with me! Otherwise, the session will be much like in-person therapy.

What can I expect during my first appointment?

Once you take the first step to reach out, we will set up a consultation telephone call. This will be 15 minutes for you to tell me a little about yourself in order to see if we are a good fit.

If we both feel good, I will send you all the paperwork through the client portal, and we will get you scheduled for your first session.

During your first session, we’ll go over your intake paperwork together, answer follow-up questions, and leave time for you to ask any questions you might have. You never have to feel worried or stressed when coming to therapy. We will work together to be sure we are addressing all your concerns.

This is also a time for us to assess your needs and goals and create an initial treatment plan, which will determine our path for therapy. This treatment plan may be changed down the road, as your needs change too!

Does being in therapy mean something is wrong with me?

That’s a big NOPE! Many people begin therapy because they feel that something isn’t working. The truth is, everyone could use some extra support in navigating tricky issues. That does not mean you are incapable, broken, or any other nonsense.

Others choose therapy to learn more about themselves, so that they can gain insight and awareness into their current life challenges and struggles.

Cancellation policy

Cancellations within less than 24 hours notice and no-show appointments will be charged at our full fee.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. we are ethically and legally bound to keep what you share during our work together between you and me unless:

  • You give me your written permission (i.e., sign a release of information) to share specific information

  • You choose to use your insurance’s out-of-network benefits to get reimbursed for services (in which case, we will be required to share a diagnosis, dates of sessions you attended, a CPT code for services, and very occasionally, other information, such as a treatment summary)

  • You tell me that you want to hurt yourself

  • You tell me that someone is hurting a child or dependent adult

  • You tell me that you plan to hurt someone else

What is a good faith estimate?

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required, upon request, to provide individuals who are not enrolled in an insurance plan or a federal health care program or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, a “Good Faith Estimate.” This document  explains how much your medical and mental health care will cost. You can ask for this before you schedule a session. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical service, including psychotherapy services.
